The Skaneateles Girl's Ice Hockey team has had an incredible season, ending it with a title win and becoming state champions. Most of the team and their coach joins Bridge Street to discuss what made their season so successful.
Head Coach, Andy Rozak, talked about his amazement with the team and how hard the girls worked to get where they are. Many of the team members described their experiences as special because of the group of girls with whom they were able to spend all of their games and practices. With nine seniors going off to college soon, the rest of the team is preparing for another great season next year. Throughout the season, the girls practiced Monday through Friday, followed by weight training or supplemented by yoga. The sense of sistership is palpable and that is even more commendable considering the girls come from three different school districts (CBA, West Genesee & Skaneateles).
The Skaneateles Girl’s Ice Hockey team won first place in Section 3 and moved onto winning the New York State Championship Game. They ended their perfect season with 19-0 game wins. Coach Rozak and his team hope their big win takes the growing sport to the next level in Central New York and throughout the rest of the country.
