Five Days of Fashion and Style In CNY

Syracuse Fashion Week celebrates the style and fashion of CNY and Syracuse with five days of exciting events.  Executive Director and founder Lisa Marie Butler and Hair and Makeup Coordinator Shannon Fleming came on to talk about the week’s events.

The week brings more than just the latest fashion to the Landmark Theatre, it brings artists, designers, musicians, restaurants and bars together.

Kicking off the week on Tuesday, Apr. 25 is the brand new event ‘Syracuse Shop & Sip’. During this event, you can stop into participating businesses to enjoy some snacks and do something shopping. All participating businesses will have food donation bins and cash boxes to benefit the Food Bank of Central New York that you can leave donations for.  Ending the night at the Empire Brewing Company is a performance from Just Joe at 7pm.

Wednesday, Apr. 26 is ‘Runway Reps’ which is a fun and engaging show that features both fitness and fashion. Athletes and models will be showing off "athleisure" wear from the Mr. Shop and work out clothing from Lululemon. It will be held at the Urban Life from 6pm to 9pm.

The following day, ‘Farm Fresh Fashions’ will be held at the Empire Farm Brewery in Cazenovia. This is New York State’s first ever fashion show held in a brewery featuring local fashion, Empire’s award winning beer and a menu of locally sourced delights to taste.

Ending the week is ‘The Underground Show’ at Marisa’s Fortress of Beauty with this year’s theme of sugar skulls. It will feature fantasy fashions and have a focus on lavish hair and makeup designs. There will be two shows, one starting at 6pm and the other starting at 10pm.

Then comes the annual favorite, the ‘Fashion Week Gala’ held at the Landmark Theatre with cocktails and light snacks to be served at the start of the night.

In honor of the Runway Reps event at Urban Life, Fleming showed off a hairstyle you can expect to see. It's a look where you can go to the gym in a ponytail and go out right after by transforming it into a braided updo.
