Spring Clean Your Closet

Simple Steps from The DeClutter Coach

Spring and hopefully summer are on their way and if you're tired of waiting for the warm weather to turn, why not get a head start inside.

DeClutter Coach Deb Cabral is back with simple ways to spring clean your closet and not lose your mind.

Deb says that the first thing anyone should do when it comes to tackling their closet is to take an inventory of everything you have. Evaluate how you feel about each item. If it doesn't fit or maybe it wasn't something you wore this year, it might be time to toss or donate it.

Don't forget to actually clean your closet when you're changing your wardrobe. Vacuuming, dusting and mopping are all very important, especially if you're transitioning one seasonal wardrobe to the next.

Be sure to clean your clothes before storing. Dry clean what you need to and then remove the plastic bags ahead of storing them to prevent trapping moisture and bugs.

Deb also says that it's important to know how to hang your clothes and she says there's nothing wrong with being a hanger snob. Having the right hanger for what you're working with, can make all the difference when it comes to closet organization.

Store your clothing in clean plastic bins or bags and store them under your bed or in a closet. And if you can, avoid basement storage as much as possible.
