Big Rig Day in Burnet Park

Family friendly and free event in Syracuse this weekend

Kids can finally get up close and personal with their favorite big rigs and trucks this weekend. The Syracuse City Parks Department is hosting their annual “Big Rig Day” this Saturday.

The annual event brings in dozens of trucks and other specialty vehicles for families to enjoy. While not all vehicles can be seen up close, there are several opportunities for kids and their parents to climb inside.

New to the collection of vehicles this year, is a Ghostbusters themed car, which is fully equipped with lights, sirens, and decals that are identical to those in the movies. Mary Beth Roach, Deputy Parks Commissioner, says the cars are not only fun for the kids, but also for parents and grandparents.

Big Rig Day is also an opportunity for people who want to work with with and potentially drive trucks to learn more about different jobs available. Several truck companies are planning on holding small job fairs at the event.

The event starts at 11 a.m. at Burnet Park. The Parks Department asks people to enter from Burnet Park Drive and Coleridge Drive.
