Plowshares Craftsfair & Peace Festival

45 Years of Local Multicultural Celebration

The Plowshares Craftsfair & Peace Festival is billed as CNY's premier multicultural craft fair but it is so much more than just that. It is also a peace festival with music, food and a spirit of fellowship that unites the community throughout the weekend. Lanny Freshman from the Syracuse Peace Council discusses the openness of the event and how it is is a place of peace, compassion and acceptance.

The event features over 100 local crafts people selling beautiful hand made items. Freshman brought along some of his own items purchased from vendors at previous year's craftsfairs; each is unique and one-of-a-kind. There are many options for those looking to purchase gifts for the holiday season and it's great to known it's all helping the local community.

The event is the main fundraiser for the Syracuse Peace Council and the name derives from the Biblical quote "And they shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore", Isaiah 1:4. Regardless of religion or political affiliations, all are encouraged to attend.

The event is this Saturday & Sunday at Nottingham High School in Syracuse. Is  is open from 10am-5pm on Saturday and 11am-5pm on Sunday. Ticket prices range from$2-$5 but those under the age of 16 and over the age of 65 are free. Learn more at peacecouncil.net
