Syracuse University Student Operas

Three One Act Operas

This weekend at Syracuse University the stage comes alive with three different operas. The Setnor School of Music’s Opera Theater presents “An American Triptych: Three Contemporary One-Act Operas.” Brianna Lombino and Jake Goz are two students performing and discuss how important productions such as these are when musical theater often takes the spotlight over opera.

The Operas will be performed tonight and tomorrow night at 8 PM in the Setnor Auditorium at Crouse College. The lineup for the evening of the three one-act shows will be the 2009 opera "Lucy" first, followed by the 2010 opera "Thyrsis and Amaranth" and closed with "Speed Dating Tonight" from 2013. They are all modern operas but still classical music. The students actually were able to meet the composers of these operas and making those connections are vital for their future careers.

Admission will be free and the event is open to the public. The Q-1 lot will be open for parking, and it is located behind the Crouse College on the Syracuse University Campus.
