SAMMY Awards Open Submissions

Celebrating and Recognizing Local Music

The Syracuse Area Music Awards are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year and submissions are currently open for local musicians to enter for consideration.

The submission period opened on December 1st and is open until January 5th and any commercially available recordings released within 2017 are eligible for upcoming awards. Online recordings are also eligible for the first time this year but must be downloaded and submitted on a CD for consideration.

SAMMY Hall of Famer Dave Frisina from 105.9 The Rebel discusses how much the music scene has grown and evolved in the years since the awards first began. Over a hundred entries were considered for the awards last year. Syracuse has gone through phases when the blues were popular, and later when rock was popular. Artists who win the award go on to have nationwide success in their careers. They appreciate the hometown support that comes from Syracuse, even when they are in other parts of the country.

Nominations will be announced at a press conference at the Palace Theater on February 6th. The Hall of Fame induction will be held Upstairs at the Dino on Thursday March 1st and the Awards Ceremony will be held Friday, March 2nd at the Palace Theater.
