Syracuse Silver Knight Foundation's Masquerade Ball

Charity Event to Even the Playing Field

The Syracuse Silver Knight Foundation is the charitable arm of the local professional soccer team that has called Syracuse home since 2010. They work to provide access to organized athletics for those whose participation may be blocked by a variety of obstacles. In order to fund such activities, they are hosting their 2nd annual Masquerade Ball.

Executive Director Rick Sauter discusses how last year's inaugural event came about and was received. Board members sought to have an upscale Halloween event and the response was outstanding, selling out with three hundred people.

Tommy Tanner is the President and General Manager of the Silver Knights and highlights some of the activities the team does in the community with the foundation. They go to about thirty to forty schools a year to talk about issues such as nutrition, team-work and anti-bullying. They also host soccer camps and clinics with schools as well as refugee groups.

The Masquerade Ball will be held on Friday, from 8:00pm to midnight at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown. The event takes place in the Grand Ballroom. Tickets are $125 and includes entertainment, food, open bar and more. Black tie is optional. The Syracuse Opera will be present at the event, as well as some mystery boxes, a tour of the hotel, and a photo booth.
