Dangerous Plants

Be aware of hazardous plants that are confused with other common weeds.
Watch out the next time you are doing yard work. There are some dangerous plants that can be easily confused with common weeds that gardeners might not be aware of.  These plants look like common weeds that grow in an every-day garden.

Giant Hogweed and Wild Parsnip are dangerous plants that can cause severe damage to your skin. Other plants in this family, such as Poison Hemlock, are also rick if consumed.

That's why it's important to be very careful when you are weeding your garden this summer.  You can report suspicious plants to the DEC or the Cornell Cooperative Extension.  You can also create an account through iMap Invasive to personally track these weeds through an online program.
