Find Out Why a Hollywood Director is Making a Stop in Syracuse!
Director Joel Schumacher is in town for the Syracuse International Film Festival. The award-winning filmmaker will be presented with the Sofia Lifelong Achievement Award. He will also screen and discuss his 1993 film Falling Down starring Academy Award winner Michael Douglas.

Schumacher began his career as a costume designer for Woody Allen and Herbert Ross, but achieved major Hollywood success in the 1980s with films like St.Elmo's Fire and The Lost Boys. He then went on to direct Hollywood blockbusters such as Batman Forever (1995), A Time to Kill (1996), Batman & Robin (1997), and Phone Booth (2002). Schumacher's recent work includes two episodes of the Netflix drama House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright.
