The Upstate New York Poison Center at Upstate has launched an Operation Medicine Spoon awareness campaign in efforts to create one medicine spoon for all medicines that do not have their own dosing device.

Many do not know that when you give your child a spoonful of medicine, a kitchen spoon is actually too much. On study showed that 40 percent of parents misdose medication prescribed for their child. Spoons vary too much in size resulting in the amount of medicine being too much.

Operation Medicine Spoon is now being implemented into the Upstate University Hospital outpatient locations.
