Are your kids drinking too much milk?

Pediatricians often recommend milk to help kids grow strong bones, but how much is enough?
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Pediatricians often recommend milk to help kids grow strong bones, but how much is enough?

A study of more than 1,300 kids helped find the answer.

The study, published in the journal Pediatrics, finds that two cups of milk per day is enough to maintain a healthy level of vitamin D and iron for most children. More than two cups can deplete iron levels, according to the study.

Children with darker skin pigmentation may need three to four cups of milk per day to maintain the same amount of vitamin D in the winter months, unless they take a vitamin D supplement.
