Study shows walking can help reduce breast cancer risk

Research now shows that walking may not just be good for your waistline and your heart, it may also lower risk for breast cancer.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV/ABC) – Research now shows that walking may not just be good for your waistline and your heart, it may also lower risk for breast cancer.

Researchers with the American Cancer Society studied data on more than 73,000 post-menopausal women that compared their breast cancer risk to exercise habits.

Those who met the weekly requirement of 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise had a 25 percent lower risk than those who didn’t exercise at all.

Walking is linked to a 14 percent lower risk of breast cancer, even if no other exercise is involved.
