Yearly CT Scans recommended for people with history of smoking

Experts have identified a step that could help prevent lung cancer for people who smoke.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Experts have identified a step that could help prevent lung cancer for people who smoke.

Doctors are recommending an annual CT Scan after experts say there's finally enough evidence that it can save lives, decreasing lung cancer deaths by 14 percent in current or former smokers, 55 and over.

Although smoking overall is declining, more than 1 in 3 Americans either smokes or used to smoke.

Smoking is strongly associated with lung cancer.

Lung cancer is the 3rd most common cancer in America and one of the deadliest.

If you smoke or used to smoke, you should talk to your doctor about whether you should be screened.
