Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a high-level sex offender who failed to register.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) –Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a high-level sex offender who failed to register.

31-year-old Michael Murphy went to prison for having sexual contact with a young boy.

Among the terms of his release, he must report to police within 90 days and also report any change of address.

Both violations are felonies.

Police say keeping the community safe for children is a top priority.

“Not only is he a registered sex offender, but the incident also involved a sex act with a child, so those are the ones we take extremely seriously, said Sgt. John Savage of the Syracuse Police Warrant Squad.

Police say Murphy was living in Eastwood on Rigi Avenue off of James Street.

He is 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should call police.

“Any information would be very helpful to us, even if somebody knows he was here and he left, or he went back to wherever, or possibly moved to another jurisdiction,” Savage said.

To contact the Syracuse Police Warrants Squad, call (315) 442-5230.
