Fugitive of the Week: Jason Southward

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- The list of domestic violence fugitives is a long one for the Syracuse Police Warrant Squad and they could use your help taking one of those names off the list.

Police are asking you to be "On the Lookout" for 38-year-old Jason Southward, who they say struck his girlfriend in the face with enough force to knock her to the ground on July 8.

"At the time she was holding their 17-month-old daughter. The girlfriend fell on top of the daughter, and then when she tried to get up again, he struck her with a closed fist on the side of the head,” said Syracuse Police Sergeant John Savage.

Police responded to the scene, but say Southward was already gone. He’s wanted for violating an order of protection and harassment. For the warrant squad, this is the kind of case that gets attention.

“We would like to see the courts and police intervene before something happens to the kids caught in the middle of these senseless disturbances between people,” said Sgt. Savage.

Jason Southward is 6'1" tall, 240 pounds, with a medium build. If you know where the Syracuse Police Warrant Squad can find Southward, call the tip line at 442-5230. All calls will remain confidential.
