Syracuse Police looking for covicted rapist who failed to register as a sex offender

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police ran a special detail over the weekend in which they targeted sex offenders and other wanted criminals in the city.

They made multiple arrests but a Level 2 sex offender who has failed to register as a sex offender in Onondaga County eluded them.

Freddie Smalls Brown Jr. has served prison time for violently raping a woman in New York’s Capital Region.

Police say the 43-year-old Ballston Spa native has a history of failing to register as a sex offender in his hometown.

Now, living in Syracuse, his old habits have returned.

“That sends up red flags for us,” said Sgt. John Savage of the Fugitive Task Force. “Number one, as a sex offender and, two, as someone who is supposed to report to police and now goes off the radar.”

Brown is 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds.

If you can help police find him, call (315) 442-5230.
