Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A Syracuse man who had already served time behind bars for running scams is back in custody.

Around 12 hours after being profiled on NewsChannel 9’s OnTheLookout segment and listed on OnTheLookout.net, Jesse Stokes was placed under arrest.

The authorities were looking for the 51-year-old man after he allegedly posed as a contractor in neighborhoods in Solvay, Geddes, and Syracuse where he promised residents to perform work, but took the money and ran.

According to the authorities, US Marshals received between 25 and 30 calls after he was profiled on NewsChannel 9.

One viewer called and told police they saw Stokes shopping at Lowes on Midler Avenue in Syracuse.

Syracuse Police arrested him at the store around noon.

Other victims have emerged, including an elderly man who Stokes allegedly stole from on Friday, and the authorities believe more victims are out there.

Anyone who has any information that can help the authorities should call the Onondaga County District Attorney's Office at (315) 435-2470.
