Geddes Police crack ballpark vandalism case a year later

A year after we put you On The Lookout, a ballpark vandal has finally been caught.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A year after we put you On The Lookout, a ballpark vandal has finally been caught.

It was upsetting for parents to see the mark of vandals where their children play. The dugouts and even the dumpsters were tagged with graffiti, some of it was offensive and some of it was bizarre.

“We've had small minor incidents but nothing of this gravity had ever really occurred at this park before,” said Geddes Police Investigator Chris Lukins.

It wasn't a tip that helped Geddes Police find the suspect, it was science.

“Just here within a past couple of weeks, a forensic analysis report came back and a latent print identification lead us to the persons responsible for committing the crime,” Lukins said.

The suspects are teenagers. One has been charged and another arrest is possible.

After a $650 cleanup bill, police hope this will be the last strike for vandals at the ballpark.

Because of the suspect’s age when the alleged vandalism took place, police are not releasing the name of the teen.
