Manlius Police warn of increased burglaries and larcenies

Manlius Police are warning residents of an increase in reported larcenies and burglaries from cars and buildings.
Manlius (WSYR-TV) - Manlius Police are warning residents of an increase in reported larcenies and burglaries from cars and buildings.

Police say since September of this year, they have responded to approximately 20 complaints in the neighborhoods bordered by North Burdick Street, Taylor Road and Bowman Road.

Many of the crimes involved thefts from unlocked vehicles or buildings during the night, according to officers.

Police also say burglars entered multiple vehicles in the same neighborhood many times.

Items taken include cash, cameras, cell phones, gift cards and electronic devices according to police.

Police advise residents to lock their vehicles, homes and outbuildings at night and when they are not at home.

They also say the use of motion lights on the exterior of homes and outbuildings can help in deterring similar crimes.

Police ask anyone observing any suspicious activity to call 911 immediately.

Anyone with information regarding the crimes is urged to contact the Manlius Police at (315) 682-8673 or tips@manliuspolice.org.

All tips will remain anonymous.
