Police On The Lookout for suspected purse snatcher in Oswego

Police in the city of Oswego are On The Lookout after they say a suspect robbed a convenience store employee's purse as her shift ended.

Oswego (WSYR-TV) - Police in the city of Oswego are On The Lookout after they say a suspect robbed a convenience store employee's purse as her shift ended.

Oswego City Police say the robbery occurred Thursday at about 9:29 p.m. at the A-Plus Sunoco on 299 West 1st St.

According to the employees of the store, the suspect came into the store and spoke to the cashier regarding a possible issue with the store earlier in day.

At the same time, a female employee was finishing her shift and getting money from an ATM within the store. Police say the suspect would have observed this.

Once she finished at the ATM, the victim took garbage from the store outback to the dumpster.

That’s when police say the suspect followed her to the dumpster and grabbed her purse, containing cash and credit cards, and forcibly stole it from her.

Police say the suspect then ran west bound.

No weapons were threatened or used and the victim did not sustain any injuries.

Police searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect or victims property.

The suspect is described by officials as:
  • Caucasian male,
  • Approximately 20 years old
  • About 5 feet-6 inches tall,
  • With a medium build,
  • Full beard, possibly reddish brown in color
The suspect was said to be seen wearing a dark colored coat, dark colored pants with possible paint stains on them and baseball hat according to police.
