Police following leads in two Rome homicides

Rome Police have released some information on a suspect in the city's second homicide in one week.
ROME, NY (WSYR-TV) - Rome Police have released some information on a suspect in the city's second homicide in one week.

The crime happened at 10:51 p.m. on Thursday.  Officers responded to a shots fired call in the area of Stevens Street.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound lying in the roadway.

The man, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe the suspect is male and was last seen wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt.

Police say the suspect's age and race is not known.

He was last seen running from the shooting scene towards North Madison Street.

Earlier in the week, police determined that the death of Charles S. Digristine was a homicide.  He was found shot to death at a home on Lawrence Street at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

No arrests have been made but police are following leads in both cases.


Police do not believe the crimes are connected and the victims in both shootings were familiar with the suspects.
