Syracuse Police are crediting NewsChannel 9 viewer tips in the arrest of a suspected bicycle thief less than 24-hours after he was featured in On The Lookout.

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse Police are crediting NewsChannel 9 viewer tips in the arrest of a suspected bicycle thief less than 24-hours after he was featured in On The Lookout.

43-year-old Maurice Giles of 2519 Lodi St. in Syracuse was arrested Friday after police say they received “several tips” on the suspect’s identity.

The alleged incident was captured on surveillance tape and involved an Enduro Evo bicycle – valued at $3,500 – being taken from Advanced Cyclery on July 31.

Giles has been charged with the felonies of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree.

He was lodged at the Justice Center and is scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday at Syracuse City Criminal Court.

The stolen bicycle has not been recovered at this time.

Giles capture brings the On The Lookout total caught to 292.
