Syracuse Police ‘On The Lookout’ for 7-Eleven robbery suspect

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police say they are ‘On The Lookout’ after man robbed a convenience store and forced the clerk to the ground before taking off with money.

The entire incident, which occurred on Dec. 3 at about 7 a.m. at the 7-Eleven on Grant Boulevard, was caught surveillance footage.

A scruffy looking man entered the store wearing a pink bandana over his forehead, and police say he told the clerk, ‘You know what this is, give me the money in the tray and under the tray. Give me the lotto tickets.’

The suspect had an apple juice in one hand and his other hand was in his pocket. Police say he was acting as if he had a gun.

“He told her to get on the ground when he was leaving the store. He ordered her to the floor and the clerk did exactly what he told her to do,” said Sergeant Tom Connellan with the Syracuse Police Department. “She gave us a real good description. She did what we want people to do. It’s not worth being a hero over and getting hurt in a robbery.”

Police say the man drove away in a silver car, which was also caught on surveillance camera.

Officials believe the man is between 40 and 50 years old. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.

Police say they are concerned because the suspect did the robbery with such ease, and detectives find when that's the case, they may try to do it again.

If you have any information that can help police identify the suspect, you are urged to call (315) 442-5222.

All calls will remain confidential.
