Town of Sullivan On The Lookout after a wave of home burglaries sweep lakeside neighborhoods

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Burglaries tend to spike in the summer and law enforcement agencies are asking neighbors in the town of Sullivan to be On The Lookout for thieves who have struck nearly a dozen times already.

State Police and Madison County Sheriff's deputies are asking the community to ensure doors and windows are locked after Oneida Lake neighborhoods have been hit hard.

The criminals are putting neighbors on edge by prowling through cars, sheds, homes, camps or anything that is open or unlocked.

“TV’s, games, computers, cameras, cash, change, if they're making entry into garages they are taking leaf blowers, power washers, lawn tools,” said Madison County Undersheriff John Ball.

Troopers and deputies have stepped up their patrols, but need neighbors to be vigilant and cautious.

“If you left your doors closed and you come home and find them open, do not go into your home, call 911 immediately, we'll get out here and along with state police, let us do an investigation,” explained Ball.

If you have any information that could help law enforcement catch the suspected burglaries, you are urged to call police.
