Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- A NewsChannel 9 “Real Deal” investigation has helped make some changes.

Thursday night, NewsChannel 9 reported about an online search on Walmart’s website that displayed a cutlery set made overseas as a set that was made in the USA.

Before our investigation, searching “Flatware Made in the USA” on Walmart’s site would bring up an Oneida flatware set that’s actually made in Indonesia.

Greg Owens with Sherrill Manufacturing Incorporated says he contacted Walmart several times over the past month about the problem, but nothing was done. He even filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), but the FTC won’t say whether they’re investigating.

However, after NewsChannel 9 called Walmart, the company altered its search codes within 24 hours. Now, that Oneida flatware set no longer shows up when searching “Flatware Made in the USA” on Walmart’s website.
