Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – There is a new place to sit and relax in Downtown Syracuse, but the benches aren’t your standard seats, they are also a work of art.
The new benches are part of a movement to have more public art throughout the city.
Local artist Tommy Lincoln developed the design for the benches located outside Cafe Kubal on Salina Street.
“I wanted people to have fun while they were here and have a nice place to sit,” Lincoln said.
Lincoln is part of 40 Below's public arts task force, which aims to help revitalize and beautify the city.
People will begin to see more public art on Syracuse sidewalks.
Keep an eye out for the new bike racks in Armory Square in front of the MOST and a new one on North Salina Street that looks like a pasta maker.
