Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The mother of a Syracuse City School District student who was stabbed to death outside of a party pleaded with the community to refrain from reacting violently to the boy’s death.
16-year-old Gilberto Rodriguez was charged with murder in connection to the death of 17-year-old Charles Pitts.
Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler described the boy’s death as a tragedy.
On Friday, Pitts’ mother, Lepa Pullins, implored her late son’s friends and supporters to “break a pattern of violence with love, comfort.”
Pitts was on pace to graduate from high school this year.
His brother told NewsChannel 9 that Pitts’ goal was to join the Air Force.
