Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Representatives Dan Maffei and Richard Hanna discussed the government shutdown with NewsChannel 9 anchors Tanja Babich and Dan Cummings on The Morning News on Tuesday.
Maffei and Hanna both voted on early morning legislation that would call for a one-year delay on the implementation of the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate.
Maffei was one of nine Democrats who voted yes in support of delaying the mandate.
Hanna is opposed to the Affordable Care Act – or “Obamacare” – but he did vote with Democrats over the weekend because he felt the Republican plan had too many strings attached. He sided with Republicans when more scaled down versions were proposed.
Neither of the Representatives who talked to NewsChannel 9 are happy with how Congress is conducting its business.
