Have you ever woken up with a sore jaw or a headache? Did you know it could be from grinding your teeth while you sleep?
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Have you ever woken up with a sore jaw or a headache? Did you know it could be from grinding your teeth while you sleep?

Bruxism, or teeth grinding or clenching may be caused by stress, misaligned or missing teeth and even sleep problems. It often happens at night, many patients aren’t aware of the habit until they start feeling symptoms such as teeth pain, jaw soreness and headaches.

If it’s left untreated, you can do some real damage.

So what can you do? Managing stress may help, but you may also need a custom made mouth guard that’s worn at night.

The best thing to do is see your dentist regularly, so the problem can be caught early on.
