Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A Central New York infant suffering from a rare skin disorder will return home this evening after a stay in a Cincinnati children's hospital where he was receiving specialized care.

Baby Easton Friedel suffers from Epidermolysis Bullosa. Children who suffer from it are often called “Butterfly babies,” as the condition leaves their skin as fragile as the tissue of butterflies’ wings.

The Central New York community rallied around the child from Weedsport and raised tens of thousands of dollars to help him.

Doctors told Easton’s family that most babies with EB die from infection before their first birthday.
