Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day

From green beer to road bowling, Central New Yorkers celebrated St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday.
SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - From green beer to road bowling, Central New Yorkers celebrated St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday.

On Tipperary Hill in Syracuse, the crowd spilled out into the parking lot at Coleman’s Authentic Irish pub.

People told NewsChannel 9 that they celebrate on Tipp Hill for one reason in particular.

"Tradition. My mother came here for years and years and years and I'm just keeping up the tradition,” said Joseph Wadsworth.

"It’s just become tradition. They love coming up and checking out the little leprechaun door and the setup inside and it’s just awesome,” said Heather Watson who brought her kids for lunch.

Meanwhile, at Onondaga Lake Park, people teamed up to play Irish road bowling.

The rules are simple. You underhand throw a small cannonball along a long road, much like bowling. But, scoring is more like golf. The goal is to see who can cross the finish line in the fewest number of throws.
