Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A Cazenovia Middle School student who fell into a well while playing hide-and-seek at a Halloween party remains in critical condition three days later.

State Police say they will not release the name of the 10-year-old child.

They have released some new details regarding their investigation.

Police believe the boy, who was a guest at the party on Route 92, fell into the Artesian well when he jumped over a rock wall and landed on wood that covered the opening.

They say the wood had rotted to some degree and gave way when the boy landed on it.

He fell approximately 16 feet.

Cazenovia firefighters pulled the child from the well.

He was transported to Upstate University Hospital.
