Convicted felon accused of possessing marijuana and firearms

The New York State Police have arrested a convicted felon after he was allegedly found with marijuana and guns in his home.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The New York State Police have arrested a convicted felon after he was allegedly found with marijuana and guns in his home.

Richard Albanese, age 54 of Verona was arrested for:
  • Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 4th Degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree
Officers of the Community Narcotics Enforcement Team obtained a search warrant for Albanese’s home on Wood Creek Road in Verona.

Police say they found marijuana and numerous long guns including two modified guns that fell under the definition of an assault style weapon in the state of New York.

Albanese is prohibited from possessing any firearm because he has had previous felony convictions in the state of New York.

He was arraigned before the Town of Verona Court and committed to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail or bond.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.
