Counselor at special-needs group home arrested on sex charges involving a teenage resident

A counselor at a group home for people with special needs is facing sex charges for an alleged incident involving a 16-year-old resident.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A counselor at a group home for people with special needs is facing sex charges for an alleged incident involving a 16-year-old resident.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office charged Markeem Chaplin, 21, of South Avenue in Syracuse, with criminal sex act in the third degree, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

Chaplin was associated with the Toomey Residential & Community Services organization when the alleged incident occurred.

The Sheriff’s Office is concerned that there are additional victims. Anyone who can help the Sheriff’s Office should call (315) 435-3092.

Chaplin was arraigned in Town of Camillus Court and taken to the Justice Center in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $25,000 bond.
