Oxford (WSYR-TV) - A driver trying to get away from a shooter was involved in an accident on Saturday in the Town of Oxford.
The Chenango County Sheriff's Office was called to 427 Lyon Brook Road to investigate a shooting.
They found a man had been involved in an accident as he was trying to escape from someone who shot bullets at his vehicle, striking the passenger side.
Detectives executed a search warrant and found the suspect, 40 year old Martin P. Provo, in a wooded area. They also recovered the shotgun they believe he used in the shooting and shell casings.
Approximately 1.75 ounces of powder cocaine, several pounds of marijuana, a digital scale, and over $3,800 in cash was also seized along with several guns.
Provo is charged with reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminal possession of marijuana. More charges charges are expected.
After an arraignment in the Town of Norwich Court, Provo was taken to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail.
