Feds reveal indictment against alleged Syracuse gang

Eleven alleged gang members are facing Federal prosecution after they were charged in indictments unsealed on Tuesday that attribute an array of felonies to them.

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Eleven alleged gang members are facing Federal prosecution after they were charged in indictments unsealed on Tuesday that attribute an array of felonies to them.

The alleged V-Not members named in the indictment included Kahari Smith, who was arrested by Syracuse Police and charged with the murder of former Henninger High School sports star Kihary Blue.

Also named in the indictment were alleged V-Not members:
  • Habakkuk Nickens, 26
  • Jeffery Powell, 27
  • Kenneth Jackson, 27
  • Titus Nickens, 28
  • Riadda Travet, 22 (The first woman to be prosecuted under the RICO act)
  • Christopher Mike, 27
  • Jermeere McKinnon, 23
  • Nathan King, 21
  • Dwayne Hester, 27
  • Donald R. Johnson Jr., 24
Six of the alleged members were taken into custody on Tuesday morning. The others were already incarcerated.

According to the indictment, the V-Not members' activities include one murder, 11 shootings, seven other acts of gun possession, two assaults, and 19 acts of selling or possessing crack.

Police say Blue’s death was the result of a drive-by shooting that led to the death of 20-month-old Rashaad Walker Jr. Bricktown gang member Saquan Evans shot and killed the child when he was trying to shoot his father, Rashaad Walker Sr. Police say Evans mistakenly believed the 110 gang had shot Blue.
