Auburn (WSYR-TV) - Auburn police were on the scene of a deadly stabbing for several hours, collecting evidence.
Crime tape surrounds a section of Case Avenue, where investigators were notified of a fight and stabbing around 12:37 a.m. on Saturday morning.
When police arrived, they found 28-year-old Matthew Prego, of Skaneateles, in the street with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Auburn Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Auburn Police say the suspect ran away, but was found during a search. 28-year-old Kevin A. Ritchie, of Auburn, is charged with second degree murder, third degree criminal possession of a weapon, and second degree obstructing governmental administration.
Ritchie was arraigned in Auburn City Court and sent to the Cayuga County jail with no bail set.
