Burglars struck two homes in the Madison County Town of Sullivan during daylight break-ins Wednesday. In one of the break-ins the Madison County Sheriff’s Office reports several weapons were taken.

Investigators say a homeowner returned to a home on McGraw Road in Sullivan at about 4:50 p.m. Wednesday to find the front door open. Taken in the second burglary were a Mossberg bolt-action shotgun, Ruger M22 .22 caliber rifle, Remington 870 pump-action 12 ga. shotgun, Ruger 7 mm. scoped rifle and a camouflaged Daisy BB gun.

In the first incident, a homeowner called 911 at 1:30 p.m. to report a break-in took place while the owner was in another part of the home on Route 173. Investigators report the suspect forced his way into the home and took an iMac computer. He’s described as a dark or olive skinned male. He fled the scene in what is described as a metallic golden/antelope color mid-size 4-door sedan, driven by another suspect. The vehicle had the newer style orange and blue New York license plates.
