Fireside Inn owner’s family says it may not reopen

After more than a year of delaying reopening the Fireside Inn, ownership is saying they may not open their doors again at all.
Lysander (WSYR-TV) – After more than a year of delaying reopening the Fireside Inn, ownership is debating whether or not they will reopen their doors again at all.

Though a sign says “Temporarily Closed for Renovations,” there is no apparent sign of construction.

The property is tens of thousands of dollars behind in taxes and if the bills aren’t paid by January, the Town of Lysander will put the Inn up for auction.

A few months ago, the family said they were working to retain the inn, but the owner’s grandson says they are now exploring other options.

“While it is still my family’s intention to reopen, we are currently exploring how the Fireside Inn fits into the current family business model, which consists of various commercial holdings in New York, Pennsylvania, and Florida; as well as our casino project in Alexandria Bay," Adam Cole told NewsChannel 9.

Those who still have gift certificates, however, should hold onto them for the time being.
