Oswego (WSYR-TV) – A Granby man is facing several weapons and drug charges after police searched his home.

Police say they found several firearms and approximately 16 ounces of marijuana at the home of 52-year-old Michael Edward Shoults, Sr.

As a previously convicted felon, Shoults is not permitted to possess guns. In addition, one of the weapons was allegedly defaced.

He has been charged with the following crimes:

  • Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a felony
  • Criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor
  • Criminal possession of marijuana in the second degree, a felony
  • Endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor
  • Unlawfully growing cannabis, a misdemeanor

Police say he was growing marijuana at his Granby home.

They explained that Shoults was charged with endangering the welfare of a child because the child was in the same building as the marijuana. They say the child may have been placed in danger because of the risks associated with drug trafficking.

Shoults was arraigned in City of Fulton Court and taken to the Oswego County Public Safety Center in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
