Liverpool teen charged in deadly hit-and-run accident

A Liverpool teen has been charged with leaving the scene a deadly accident following a weekend hit-and-run.
Clay (WSYR-TV) - A Liverpool teen has been charged with leaving the scene a deadly accident following a weekend hit-and-run.

The accident happened early Saturday morning on Oswego Road in the town of Clay.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office says 54-year-old Joseph Roderka and his 21-year-old daughter were walking when he was hit by a car.

Deputies say 19-year-old Dante Altieri was behind the wheel of the vehicle that struck Roderka.

Officials indicated that Altieri went home to tell his parents he had hit something, and then returned to the scene where he was arrested.

Roderka was taken to Upstate University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Altieri has been charged with Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Accident, a class D felony and Driving Across Hazard Markings, an infraction.

He was arraigned in the Town of Clay Court on Tuesday and released.
