Man charged in deadly fire released from hospital, being held at Justice Center

Robert K. Teachout is facing charges of second degree arson and second degree murder in connection the fire at his father's house on Garden City Drive in Mattydale. Teachout's father was found dead in the home.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - The man charged with second degree arson and second degree murder in connection to a deadly fire in Mattydale has been released from the hospital and is now in jail.

56-year-old Robert K. Teachout, of Plymouth Avenue, was being treated for smoke inhalation from the fire at his father's home on Garden City Drive.

The fire started around 6:00 a.m. on Friday.

Teachout's father, 83-year-old Robert Y. Teachout was found dead in the home.

The victim’s son was staying at the home, according to Sheriff Kevin Walsh.

The younger Teachout is in custody at the Onondaga County Justice Center.

He is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on September 26.
