Pleasantly sunny weekend

(Saturday, March 9, 2013) Any early fog is quick to clear as the March sun rises high in the sky with very few clouds and warms us pleasantly. Highs will be in the mid 40s today with even milder temps expected Sunday.

High pressure keeps us mild and quiet through much, if not all, of the weekend. With the high right over us today, you can expect plenty of sunshine and light winds. Typically in order to warm temperatures this time of year we would need a decent amount of wind. With that lacking, our warmth depends on the work of the strong March sun. Despite a chilly and foggy start we should still manage to warm at least into the low 40s by afternoon.

By Sunday, high pressure will be to our east and winds will turn into the south. That will help bring even milder air into the region as highs reach the 50s. Not a bad way to kick off Daylight Saving Time (remember, clocks go ahead one hour before going to be Saturday night).

With the warmth will come more moisture in the form of some clouds on Sunday. Earlier we were thinking that an approaching cold front might bring us a few showers by late in the day. That front looks like it will move toward us slower so it looks like we stay dry to finish the weekend.

The best chance will come Monday as the front eventually swings through the region. While we think the mild weather will stay with us through Monday, the air behind the cold front will be cooler and this cooler air will be reinforced as we go through the rest of the week. Our temperatures could end up well below for the end of next week.
