Norwich (WSYR-TV) – State Police issued a release on Thursday indicating that a body found near a waste-treatment plant in the town of Norwich is that of a woman who had been missing since June 28.

According to police, an autopsy conducted at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton confirmed that the body they found has been identified as 51-year-old Krista Kosowsky.

Medical staff who performed the autopsy said the body did not reveal any physical trauma or injuries that could have led to her death, according to police.

The results of toxicology tests are pending.

Police recovered the body while searching for the woman after her car was found at a Walmart location in Norwich.

They were searching in flooded fields around the store in the city of Norwich using an airboat, divers, and dogs on Wednesday.

They say they recovered the body around 9:30 a.m. in a body of water near a waste treatment plant in the Chenango County city.
