Police: Bullet grazes head of man riding in SUV

Syracuse Police said someone in a black SUV fired shots at another SUV near the border of Syracuse & DeWitt. One of the bullets grazed the head of a man in the targeted vehicle.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A bullet grazed the head of a 25-year-old man who was riding in a light-colored SUV during a drive-by shooting near the border of Syracuse and DeWitt on Saturday.

Syracuse Police said at around 3:20 p.m., a 24-year-old male driver and the passenger were traveling south on Nottingham Road near Broad Street when a black SUV pulled alongside them on the driver's side.

Police said someone in the black SUV fired shots at the other vehicle.

The driver was not hurt and drove to the Mobil gas station at the corner of Tecumseh Road and Nottingham Road in the town of DeWitt.

An employee at the gas station, Daniel Bentley, said both men got out of the SUV and hid behind the shelves inside.  Bentley said he called 911 and helped the injured passenger until an ambulance arrived.

Police said investigators recovered shell casings at the scene.

No additional information about the suspect(s) or their vehicle was available.
