Paramus, NJ (WSYR-TV) – Police in New Jersey believe a gunman took his own life after opening fire at a mall in Paramus on Monday night.

The body of Robert Shoop was found at 3:20 a.m. in the Westfield Garden State Plaza mall, according to CNN.

No one else was injured during the incident, according to authorities in New Jersey.

Authorities in New Jersey believe Shoop was either trying to commit suicide or provoke police into killing him.

The incident began at 9:20 p.m.

They believe Shoop was acting alone when he fired six bullets, causing panic in the mall.

The Bergen County District Attorney’s Office indicated that Shoop was “known” to local law enforcement and that he had a history of drug abuse.
