Solvay man charged with copper theft at a military test site

A Solvay man is facing charges in Oneida County in connection with the theft of copper wiring at military buildings.

Verona (WSYR-TV) - A Solvay man is facing charges in Oneida County in connection with the theft of copper wiring at military buildings.

26 year old Frank Ruggireo II was arrested on Friday, accused of Burglary during the Summer and Fall of 2012.

Deputies say the thefts occurred in and around the Verona Test Site on Germany Road in the Town of Verona, the location of a former test site for the former Griffiss Air Force Base. The property is still owned by the U.S. Air Force.

The military agency's Office of Special Investigations helped the Oneida County Sheriff's Office with the case.

After an arraignment in New York Mills Village Court, Ruggireo was sent to the Oneida County Jail. Bail was set at $10,000 cash.
