Forestport (WSYR-TV) – An Oneida County man has been arrested on charges that he shot his wife to death at their home in the town of Forestport on Tuesday.

Police have charged 49-year-old Larry Utter with second-degree murder.

Utter called 911 to report the shooting and was at the residence when police began investigating the incident, but they declined to arrest him immediately.

He told dispatchers that he accidentally shot his wife.

His wife, 45-year-old Stacey Utter, was found dead in the home on Trestle Road.

Police determined that she had been struck by two shotgun rounds.

Police immediately took Larry Utter into custody, but he was taken to a local hospital for a medical condition.

They say police had been called to the Utters’ residence at least twice in the past year for domestic complaints.

Police said Larry Utter will be arraigned upon his release from the hospital.
