Syracuse Police identify teen killed in South Side homicide

Syracuse Police have identified the 17-year-old shot and killed on the city's South Side on Wednesday night.

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse Police have identified the teen shot and killed on the city's South Side on Wednesday night.

According to police, 17-year-old Dylan Cheek of Syracuse was the victim of a drive-by shooting.

Police say Cheek was walking alone on the sidewalk in the 1400 block of South Ave. around 10:15 p.m. when a dark-colored car pulled up and someone fired several shots from the vehicle.

The car drove away, heading north on South Ave., according to police.

Cheek was taken to Upstate Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Syracuse Police ask that anyone who saw or heard anything, or anyone who may have been in the area Wednesday night, to call at 315-442-5222. All calls will be kept confidential.
